Great Idea Fundamentals

http://www.thefuntheory.com/ "An Iniative of Volkswagen ... This site is dedicated to the thought that something as simple as fun is the easiest way to change people’s behaviour for the better. Be it for yourself, for the environment, or for something entirely different, the only thing that matters is that it’s change for the better."

My favorite is the Piano Staircase...”Take the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator and feel better” is something we often hear or read in the Sunday papers. Few people actually follow that advice. Can we get more people to take the stairs over the escalator by making it fun to do? See the results here

Example of Sustainability Reporting

CH2MHill Sustainability Report
"A sustainability report is an organizational report that gives information about economic, environmental, social and governance performance. [1]
Corporate sustainability reporting has a long history going back to environmental reporting. The first environmental reports were published in the late 1980s by companies in the chemical industry which had serious image problems. The other group of early reporters was a group of committed small and medium-sized businesses with very advanced environmental management systems.
Non-financial reporting, such as sustainability and CSR reporting, is a fairly recent trend which has expanded over the last twenty years. Many companies now produce an annual sustainability report and there are a wide array of ratings and standards around. There are a variety of reasons that companies choose to produce these reports, but at their core they are intended to be "vessels of transparency and accountability". Often they also intended to improve internal processes, engage stakeholders and persuade investors [2].
Organizations can improve their sustainability performance by measuring, monitoring and reporting on it, helping them have a positive impact on society, the economy, and a sustainable future. The key drivers for the quality of sustainability reports are the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) [3], (ACCA)award schemes or rankings. The GRI Sustainability Reporting Guidelines enable all organizations worldwide to assess their sustainability performance and disclose the results in a similar way to financial reporting [4]. The largest database of corporate sustainability reports can be found on the website of the United Nations Global Compact initiative."

Quick Comparison of Autodesk Design & Infrastructure Suites

New Autodesk licensing as of October 2012...

Below is a quick comparison between the new
Autodesk Building Design Suite Ultimate <and> Autodesk Infrastructure Design Suite Ultimate.
Each suite cost $150 for students vs. $6,000-12,000 retail.  See Autodesk Education Suites for Post-Secondary Schools for official details and other suites or official license information.  The fastest and least expensive place to get these student suites is from your local college bookstore.

Granted you can get the Student Version of some individual applications for FREE, but the student license expires and may not be used for commercial or for-profit, and prints a watermark with something like 'student license' on all drawings.

The following table is from the Autodesk Education - Questions and Answers PDF:

Fast Company: 7 Ways To Stimulate Your Capacity For Creativity

You will like this article Fast Company: 7 Ways To Stimulate Your Capacity For Creativity

Great ideas by By Don Peppers
  • "Move to a different apartment, or a different office location, or a different job. Change your environment, for no reason other than to make the change.
  • Drive a different route to work or school, or to church, or to the club. Take a long cut, on purpose.
  • Spend 30 minutes a day for two or three weeks with a language course from Pimsleur or Rosetta Stone in order to learn how to ask directions and order food in a new language.
  • Brainstorm different ways to use a common tool (like a hammer, or a Phillips screwdriver).
  • Go on a physical-fitness campaign. Work out until you break a sweat at least one time every day. Seriously. Every single day.
  • Memorize something useless but ambitious, like pi to 100 digits, or the names of all the major chess openings, or all the U.S. vice presidents and the presidents they served.
  • Meet one new person a day for a whole month. Talk to them, converse with them, get to know them. Talk with each of them frequently in subsequent days. You can easily do this online."
